painted by my Auntie Shelly on the wall at my cabin just as you come down the stairs from the back lawn.
the kitchen, this mobile is much older than me.
older than me
we've got an entire series of dogs playing poker throughout the living room, they tell a story, I always looked at them on rainy days.
these beautiful iron owls stand on each side of the fire place they have been there so long, maybe my grandma could tell me who's mothers they were.
somthing happened to the original eyes and when I was a kid they had spooky cracked cloudy big green marbles for eyes that were loose in their heads, years ago my dad put these eyes in on one rainy day.
the kings chair, my grandpa used to sit here.
my grandpa was a hunter
looking down from the cabin to the beach, caraganas line the uneven big cement stairs, they are a dwarf pea shrub, they smell sweet like peas and they grow like weeds, they surround our cabin. They have seeds that look like tiny green pea pods with little beans inside I don't think you can eat them but in the late summer the pods dry and burst open while still on the trees and it is the coolest sound ever for days.
this lake is deep with a hard sand bottom, my cousins down the beach caught 8 big fish in an hour. Pickerel and Jackfish aka Northern Pike.
round the side, wood pile, my parents were staying up here when I was born, after a night of playing trivial pursuit they had to run my mom to the North Battleford hospital and that is where I was born.
mint condition speed boat from the 70's, it has a built in stereo that plays music of the 70's Neil Young and James Brown.
my cousin took me for a sail

I just have these urges to take pictures of this kind of stuff.

bridge to the patio on the roof of the boathouse.
my great-grandpa chose this section of beach to build a cabin on when there were only 2 other cabins on the lake. The sand is real and there are some really pretty little rocks in it. Generations of my family have lost valuables in this sand, I lost a diamond ring, someday my cousins and I are going to rent a metal detector.
My sister Jackie, gotta make a sunset beer run to Cochin.
Cousin Cam
across the lake
My brother Jeff, he's at the lake every weekend of the summer with Cam.
Cousin Morgan
After dark we went out again and saw the craziest random fireworks on someone's beach.
Cell phone row, park your cell at the door, no texting on the beach.
you Peters boys always getting yourself into trouble, don't worry we'll drive you into N.B. to get you stitched up.
is that diefenbaker lake?
Thanks for the pictures of your weekend at the lake. Looks like nothing’s changed. Did you take any pics of Jeff’s leg injury??
Oh, about the owl eyes. Sid asked Uncle Doug if he had owl eyes, and the next time he came for a visit, he brought them. Then Sid replaced the old green marbles with the new eyes. That was a very long time ago.
No it’s Jackfish Lake silly, but I know diefenbaker lake.
stumbled upon this, just wanted to mention that you can eat the green pods from caragana (I’d recommend cooking them)
Cool! Good to know plant guy! Do you know lots about edible wild plants?
Caragana seeds make delicious sprouts. Spread a blanket or tarp by the bushes just before the pods pop open to catch the seeds.
