I love this lemon. It is a meyer lemon, it smells different than a normal lemon. It smells, and tastes sweeter and is a deeper yellow. Meyer lemon has a very distinct and delicious smell, like an orangey lemon. I’m glad to be in a land where they are plentiful. I love the great variety of citrus available here, like yuzu, tangerines, mandarins and these crazy light green limes I’ve forgotten the name of. They all have beautuful unique citrusy smells.

A friend of mine brought me a bag of sudachi from where she lives in Tokushima, Japan this summer. What a treat!! Strange little citrus fruit, quite common to be served with fish in Japan, or put into cocktails like you might lime here.

I’d never seen them before, but was happy that she smuggled a bag through customs for me. Shh, don’t tell!
